Karaoke Software
This seemed like the correct place to ask this question. I am currently an all-disc karaoke provider but if I were to decide to put all my karaoke songs on a laptop (after getting audited by the karaoke companies), what would be the best software to use to play CD+G's from my computer through a TV monitor with the words? Will any CD+G burner be able to play them, as well? Or how does that work?

Re: Karaoke Software
Compuhost by far IMHO the best Professional program ($179.00). It has a builtin rip program so you can rip your discs to you computer. If you are using Sound Choice and Chartbuster branded products, I recommend that you contact them to arrange to have your CDG discs audited and at that time they will give you permission to use their products on your computer for profit.

The makers of Compuhost has one of the better rippers but it works alongside Fast Tracks and Compuhost to rip them. It isn't built into Compuhost but is included in the install package of Compuhost.

If you are planing on using converted LD's please be aware compuhost will not play the files without a bunch of hoops to jump tru...otherwise it is a fantastic program and has the benefit of being able to run the media pro HD from CB

By built in I was mearly refering that you dont have to install it additionaly, it is an automatic install. But yes there is a tab in the drop down file in compuhost for ripping so I consider it part of the same program. Also, you cna aquire CDG Ripper as a stand alone program as well.

I use Karma from http://latshawsystems.com
No built in ripping but it does have broad compatability with a wide variety of file types.
I am actually going to head over right now to take a look at CompuHost.

Re: Karaoke Software
Compuhost is a great program and well worth purchasing as it contains a filler player that is separate from the karaoke player allowing you to control both from separate controls. You can turn on and off the autoplay function of the filler player without affecting the play of the karaoke player. It has an addon kiosk that eliminates the need to make books. The rotation feature works great too. It has a feature to impose the graphic from your cd+g player in the space that the lyrics show up in so that your ticker is visible while your disc is playing, you just need a video capture device to use it.

Yep, still trying to figure out the external video imput since I do have some that prefer to use their own discs. Video capture device? Any suggestions?Dan Gaines wrote:Compuhost is a great program and well worth purchasing as it contains a filler player that is separate from the karaoke player allowing you to control both from separate controls. So are you suggesting that I could attach this device from my external cdg player into my laptop and play an external vedio through Comphost? Currently I am using an a/b switch for my video and my audio from the cdg player is to another imput on my sound mixer.

The singers won't be able to tell except for possible lag that you are playing off of disc. Mind you I don't have one, just reporting what Compuhost can do. consider it an internal A/B switch. That would be my setup if I utilized it the video going into the laptop(A/B switch) and the audio going to another port in my mixer.
